Sopore, Sep 03 (KNO): The locals in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are up in arms against the Roads and Building (R&B) department for failing to macadamize Watlab-Tujjar Sharief road. The residents told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the 14 kilometer road stretch from Watlab to Tujar Sharief Sopore via Mundji, Nowpora, Sopore to Hardshiva, Haritar to Tarzoo, Dooru and Bomai is in shambles condition as the road stretch has not been macadamized from last three decades. Shabir Ahmad, a local resident said that the commuters have been facing tremendous hardships while travelling on the road. He said authorities have failed to ensure better road connectivity in the area. The locals said they approached the concerned authorities several times with a plea to macadamize the road, but all in vain as nothing has been done in this regard, thus leaving the locals here to lurch at large. They appealed to the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest. Meanwhile, R&B Sub Division officials told KNO that the macadamization work was not carried out due to lack of funds. However, he stated the road will be macadamized soon—(KNO)
